Case 15 - Dizziness and clumsiness
Case
A 22 year old right-handed woman presented with dizziness, unsteadiness on her feet, and a clumsy left arm
She had experienced a feeling like the room was spinning, for the last 2 weeks. This had come on gradually and had increased in intensity over days, but had never become severe or made her feel sick. It was present at rest, but worse if she moved around.
She also felt her left arm was less coordinated than usual, for example she had been somewhat inaccurate when reaching out for objects.
She had no prior health issues, took no medications, and did not consume alcohol or smoke.
She had not had any headache, changes to speech, visual disturbance, weakness, sensory symptoms, and had not been systemically unwell.
On examination she had:
The rest of the examination was normal, including cranial nerves and speech.
